During my time as a Surgical Technician in Hospital San Lucas, a typical day at work would consist of first changing my clothes to a uniform scrub for the operation room. I would then confirm which doctor I have been assigned to work with for the day. Once the assigned Dr. Has been confirmed I would proceed to prepare the operation room for the upcoming surgery. In preparation for the operation room I would search for the instruments, check the lights and the equipment as well as check with the circulating nurse to assist them in gathering everything we need for the surgery. Once I counted all the sponges, needles and instruments, I would prepare the patient for surgery, clean the area and put the drapes up.My experience there taught me more about surgeries and how to become a better surgical technician. The management was excellent and contributed to the positive work environment. The employees are kind and like to help you. They have a genuine care for the patients and are detailed in making sure everything is in its perfect condition. The hardest part of the job was the busyness of it.

There were times that your break would be delayed by long periods of time due to the amount of surgeries scheduled in a day. This was due to the need not due to poor management. There were times you would need to stay more hours to complete everything that was assigned.Overall I had a wonderful experience and would most certainly recommend this as a place of employment.
